Webinar Host
Introduction
Come and be part of a vibrant online programme that is exploring some of the leading philsophical and spiritual questions of of our time.Â
As Webinar Host for Consciousness Perspectives Forum (CPF) you will provide tech support for each of these monthly public-facing webinars, working closely with the presenter(s) and the CPF Chair, Claudia Neilsen.
CPF events take place once a month, on a Monday, 7:30-9:30PM (UK). You’ll need to be available for around 20 minutes around 6PM for the tech check with the speaker and Chair, as well as complete event related tasks within 24 hours after each event and follow-up with the rest of the team 48 hours after the event.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a casual role, working hours will be one Monday per month*, 7:30-9:30PM (UK) plus event admin before and after the event.
• Pay is £14.40 per hour to be invoiced at the end of each month.
• Expected hours: 5 hours per month. (*Except August)
There may be opportunities for the successful candidate to Host other events as and when cover is required, this will also be on a casual basis.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise directly with the Chair: Agree tech check date and time, attend the tech check troubleshooting where needed, ensure speaker information has been filled, ensure Trello is kept up-to-date
- Keep abreast of Trello for event specific tasks e.g. download slides before a webinar & screen share for the speaker
- Host for our monthly CPF event
- Assist event attendees with technical issues related issues to participating and troubleshooting while hosting the live event
- Monitor the event to ensure all participants can join, participate and have their questions answered
- Respond to technical inquiries and provide solutions promptly
- Document and report any technical issues and resolutions for future reference
- Edit the chat to ensure it is GDPR compliant and share with the Chair via email
- Export participant list and share with Chair
- Ensure team members complete their tasks e.g. edit video within 48 hours, speaker payment
Requirements and skills

- Friendly, professional and approachable – ready for engagement with the presenter, session host / chair / moderator and attendees to answer questions and provide assistance when necessary
- Proven experience providing technical support in an online environment
- A good internet connection, a computer that runs Zoom well, good microphone, camera and lighting
- Competent Zoom user (You can view their extensive help center for insights)
- Experience using Trello
- Confident speaking to an audience
- Reliable and punctualÂ
- Ability to identify, diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of relevant software systems
- Proven experience providing technical support in an online environment
- Attention to detail

Senior Accounts Manager
Introduction
The Accounts Manager is a critical role within SMN, responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring robust financial management and compliance, and reporting. And supporting the Board of Trustees in fulfilling their governance responsibilities.
At present this is a part-time role with an expected initial committment of 8-10 hours per week. It is compensated at £20 per hour and would suite a retired accounts professional.Â
This position requires a person with a meticulous approach and strong financial acumen, excellent organisational skills, and a deep commitment to the charity sector.

Responsibilities
- Overseeing and working with the Bookkeeper within Xero, prepare and present monthly cash flow reports and payroll journals (based on information from external accountants)
- Prepare and present monthly payroll journals.
- Maintain and improve the chart of accounts
- Conduct monthly reviews of nominal ledger control accounts and resolve queries with the management team.
- Manage bank accounts, including transfers and opening savings accounts to optimize interest earnings.
- Prepare quarterly management accounts, including journal postings, analyses, and narratives for the management team and Board.
- Oversee the preparation of the annual budget, collaborating with the management team to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
- Work with external accountants to facilitate the preparation of annual accounts and address any queries.
- Develop and monitor cash flow forecasts, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations.
Requirements and Skills
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or significant equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in financial management and accounting within the charity sector.
- Strong understanding of the Charity Commission’s regulations and best practices in financial governance.
- Proficiency in using accounting software (experience with Xero is a plus).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- High level of integrity and commitment to the values and mission of SMN.
- Alignment with the values and mission of the Scientific and Medical Network, with a passion for contributing to our community’s engagement and growth.
