The Heart Revolution- Film with Live Panel Discussion
Chaired by David Lorimer with filmmaker Benedikt Just, and panelists Dr Zheng Li, Darlene Waddell, RN, and Kabir Helminski
Our poetic science documentary takes viewers on a journey through life, from before our first heartbeat to beyond the last, playfully exploring what our heart is all about.
In every chapter of life, from pregnancy to birth, learning to walk and talk, going to school and using our brain, falling in love, becoming parents, to growing old, and dying, our heart plays an overlooked yet existential role.
If you think your heart is only a pump, you’re in for a big surprise.

Darlene Waddell, RN, enjoys teaching ‘My Intuitive Heart’ classes to children, a program wherein children can learn to ‘see’, read, and play without using their physical eyes. The ‘My Intuitive Heart’ program empowers children to return to the light within by tapping into the unlimited potential of their ‘intuitive heart’. Darlene also offers ‘My Intuitive Heart’ Teacher Training workshops to adults who have a desire to teach this beautiful and empowering program to children.

Kabir Helminski is co-director of the Threshold Society, a non-profit educational foundation rooted in the traditions of Sufism and inspired by the life and work of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi. He is an author, a translator of the works of Rumi and others, and a shaikh in the Mevlevi Order which traces back to Rumi. He has authored some of the finest modern English translations of Rumi’s poetry, and is the author of two contemporary classics on Sufism which have been published into at least twelve languages: Living Presence: The Sufi Path to Mindfulness and The Essential Self and The Knowing Heart: A Sufi Path of Transformation
At age 13, Benedikt Just became obsessed with finding the secret of life and started reading books on quantum physics to formulate a theory of everything. Realising that no amount of mental knowledge would help him grasp the mystery of life, he fell into a dark night of the soul that nearly cost him his life several times. As he explored diverse spiritual traditions, his curiosity took him beyond the well-known Eastern and Western fulfilment paradigms. His documentary The Heart Revolution paints a new picture of the human heart and what it means to be human. Using art, Benedikt works on introducing a fundamental redefinition of emotions and the human heart to help birth the Age of Enheartenment.
