What If ‘Love in the Air’ Is Not Just a Feeling, but a Real, Measurable Phenomenon?
Most of us have felt it. The excitement that fills a room before something extraordinary happens. The tension that hangs between two people without a single word being spoken. The warmth that seems to radiate from someone who loves you, even before they touch you. We have always had language for these experiences, because they are universal. But science has rarely asked whether they might be real in a way that goes beyond metaphor. Dr Carol Richardson decided to ask!
As part of her dissertation on Universal Consciousness and the Quantum Vacuum, she designed an online research survey to explore people’s ability to detect the subtle energies of emotions in the air around them. The results were astounding. Respondents not only confirmed experiences of feeling excitement, tension, anger, anxiety and love emanating from others in close physical proximity, but their open, free-written responses revealed something richer still: a tapestry of deeply human moments that a simple yes or no could never fully contain.
In this talk, Carol shares the full findings, exploring what the distribution of responses reveals, what the "maybe" answers tell us, and why a purely materialistic explanation may not be enough. She brings forward a philosophy that restores the sacred feminine at the heart of these transpersonal emotional fields, offering a way of understanding these phenomena that is both scientifically grounded and spiritually alive.
Because if love in the air is real, and the evidence suggests it may well be, then the implications for how we understand consciousness, connection and what it means to be human are profound beyond measure.

About the speaker:
Rev Dr Carol Richardson is a mystic healer and spiritual life coach, medium, meditation teacher, and holistic philosopher. Having grown up in multiple countries, multicultural respect and expansion of human worldviews has long been a priority in her life. Widowed at the age of 28, she experienced a spiritual phenomenon in the midst of deep trauma which seems to have "ripped open the veil" of materialist denial to awaken spiritual awareness within her. Having served traditional Protestant churches for 15 years, Richardson gradually shifted to Eastern and then to more Universal understandings of the nature of Reality. In 2025, at the age of 66, Richardson earned her PhD in Philosophy and Religion with a concentration in philosophy, cosmology, and consciousness at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Her dissertation is entitled, ‘Universal Consciousness and the Quantum Vacuum as an Interconnected Reality: An Integral Approach to Reality and Knowledge’. Richardson is also the author of Truth and Illusion: The Politics of Spirituality and How One Person’s Lie Is Another One’s Truth, which won the silver medal in the category Religion: Eastern/Western in the 2018 Independent Publisher Book Awards. She is currently posting on Substack with the intention of introducing a spiritual path called ‘Akashic Awakening’ as a way of healing humanity’s inner crises so that we can navigate the outer global crises of today. Her intention is also to cultivate both a spiritual community and a wisdom school named Akashic Awakening Academy.
