Dr Emiliano Toso – Music and Emotional States: Therapeutic Applications in the New Medicine

Through the compositions of Translational Music performed live on a piano tuned to 432 Hz by Emiliano Toso. At this event you’ll be invited to connect with your deepest emotional dimension to discover, within the uniqueness of the group experience, the profound bond that unites music and biology. The musical performances will alternate with moments in which Emiliano Toso will share his personal journey that led him to combine Science and Art. In a clear and accessible way, he will explore highly relevant topics such as Epigenetics and Sonocytology, helping you understand your relationship with the world of cells, and consequently with our body and health. During the musical segments, there will also be experiential moments dedicated to audience participation.

About the speaker:

Emiliano Toso, cellular biologist, author, and composer-musician, worked for 16 years as an Associate Director at an international Biomedical Research Institute. Since 2013, he has integrated his passion for music with biology by creating the Translational Music® project, which has been recognized by internationally renowned researchers including Dr Daniela Lucangeli, Dr Franco Berrino, and Prof Carlo Ventura. Today, his compositions are used in healthcare, educational, caregiving, and wellness settings around the world. In 2020, his name appeared in major international media outlets after he became the first person to perform live on a grand piano in an operating room. On that occasion, the music of Translational Music accompanied a delicate neurosurgical procedure on a very young patient at the Salesi Hospital in Ancona, performed by Prof Roberto Trignani. Emiliano Toso teaches in university master’s programmes, postgraduate courses, and professional training programs. In 2023, he published his first book, “In Harmony – A Journey into the Discovery of the Surprising Connection Between Music and Our Cells,” released by Mondadori. On April 5, 2024, he received the prestigious Montale FDC Award in the Music category.
