Dr Jorge Ferrer – The End of the Alpha Male: Why the Future of Masculinity may belong to the Omega Male
What if the most compelling man in the room is no longer the loudest, most dominant, or most sexually conquering, but the one secure enough to need none of those things?
What might masculinity look like beyond the familiar Alpha ideal of dominance, status, conquest, and emotional invulnerability? Drawing on an essay from my forthcoming book The Participatory Way, this talk introduces the “Omega Man” as an emerging model of mature masculinity; one that neither rejects masculine strength nor confuses it with control.
Bringing together insights from psychology, culture, spirituality, and intimate relationships, we will explore how men might reclaim courage, confidence, sexual initiative, and leadership within a more relational and participatory way of being.
At stake is more than a new masculine archetype: it is the possibility of transforming power itself, from something exercised over others into a capacity for presence, integrity, mutual empowerment, and deeper participation in life.

About the speaker:
Jorge N. Ferrer, PhD, is an internationally recognized scholar, psychologist, and author best known for developing the participatory approach to spirituality and consciousness studies.
He is Associate Research Faculty at the California Institute for Human Science and served for more than two decades as a Professor of Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where he also chaired the Department of East-West Psychology.
He is the award-winning author of several books, including Revisioning Transpersonal Theory, Participation and the Mystery, Love and Freedom, and his forthcoming The Participatory Way: Reimagining Consciousness, Psychedelics, Embodiment, and Culture.
A former advisor to the United Nations-affiliated organization Religions for Peace and a member of the Esalen Institute’s Center for Theory and Research, Ferrer received the Fetzer Institute’s Presidential Award for his pioneering contributions to the study of human consciousness.
