Dante and Otherworld Journeys event preview

Consciousness of other worlds that are also here is a central theme in wisdom traditions. They are present in cosmic visions of the future, too, which can be awoken so as to orientate shared lives, as well as more individual practices, such as dying before you die.

This year, 2021, marks the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante, whose masterpiece, The Divine Comedy, conveys one of the great journeys in such domains, culminating in his direct awareness of the reality that is the source of all light and life.

This invitation and calling is also present in the writings of figures such as Emanuel Swedenborg and William Blake, as well as the exploration of contemporary experiences, notably NDEs and angelic visions.

Together, they have a direct bearing upon how we cultivate the imagination and intuition, and how we think of ourselves as human beings.

On this day, we will explore this rich tradition and ask how it can inform our sense of living, as well as challenge mechanical and material conceptions of life. We will seek to encounter and rekindle the spiritual intelligence of the ages, as well as inform our capacity for transcendent awareness.

Otherworld journeys are constantly reinventing themselves, as would be expected as human consciousness evolves, and in so doing, they remake the possibility of knowing the ever-present origin and ground of our being.
