Dr Michael Krieger – From Materialism to Mysticism: A Psychiatrist’s Psychic Odyssey
What happens when a psychiatrist begins to have extraordinary experiences that turn his worldview upside down?
Michael Krieger was meandering through his ordinary life as a psychiatrist at a VA hospital mental health clinic when, nearly ten years ago, at the age of 55, he began having extraordinary experiences that upended his worldview. Nearly every one of these experiences took place when he spontaneously lapsed into an altered state. This led him on a quest to understand the nature of consciousness and altered states.
In this webinar, Dr Krieger will present some of the anomalous experiences that he encountered including spontaneous mediumship, visions of past lives, visions of his own future, precognitive dreams, presentiment, telepathy, and more. In sharing his personal experiences, he will attempt to explain how his own brand of psychopathology may have protected him from becoming overly traumatised by the ontological shock that would otherwise have ensued.

About the speaker:
Dr Krieger majored in physics and psychology at Rutgers College in New Brunswick, NJ. He earned his MD degree and completed his internal medicine internship in Washington, DC at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the George Washington University Hospital, respectively. He completed his psychiatry residency training at Boston University Medical Center and is also a graduate and member of the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. Board certified in General Adult, Addictions, and Geriatric Psychiatry, he served as staff psychiatrist at the Bedford VA Hospital’s outpatient mental health clinic in Bedford, Massachusetts, where he taught medical students, served as medical staff president, and chaired the Ethics Advisory Committee. Now semi-retired, he maintains a solo private practice from his home. When he is not driving his children to their respective activities, he pursues his life-long interests in tennis, chess, and the piano, as well as his relatively newfound interest in consciousness and all things psi.
