Gloria Yehilevsky – As in Music, as in Life: Weaving Practice, Experience, and Insight
How have your interactions with music changed you?
This webinar will discuss the magnetic and salutary pull of music through a combination of practice-as-research findings and autobiographical experience. Having transitioned from classically-trained percussionist (interpreter) into the realm of a composed and improvised practice (creative practitioner), by way of an ostensible detour through a Psychology MSc. Research methodologies in the arts are necessarily elusive and difficult to grok. They are multimodal, ineffable, and involve various forms of knowing: knowing-in-doing, embodied cognition, distributed cognition, and others alongside explicit knowledge sharable through documentation. A thread through this form of formal inquiry and personal experience will be presented.
