Rainbow Goddess – Motherhood, Myths and Mycelium: Reimagining Matrescence
What would the world look like if all mothers were held deeply enough to hold all the children on the Earth?
In this webinar, Rainbow presents her research exploring the meaning of spiritual community for single spiritual but not religious mothers. She situates this work within wider cultural issues affecting the spiritual, emotional, and social development of women and children living in Western, individualistic, patriarchal societies. Drawing on evocative imagery and cultural myth, Rainbow invites the audience into a deeper understanding of matrescence as a profound psychological and spiritual transition. She then introduces the mycelium metaphor as a framework for cultural re-imagining: a vision of motherhood in which mothers are held at the epicentre of community, their wisdom honoured, and their wellbeing recognised as essential for children and societies to flourish. Ultimately, Rainbow challenges the familiar phrase it takes a village to raise a child, suggesting instead that it takes a village to raise a mother.
This webinar by Rainbow will be followed by live Q&A.
