About Me

I had a long career as an Architect, working mostly in London offices and retired in 2008. The last period was occupied with the ten stations of the Jubilee Line extension. After retiring I came across the inspirational work of Christopher Alexander – a way of building which has unfortunately been very little followed as it does not square well with the commercial paradigm.

From the 1960s I have been deeply committed to the School of Economic Science, in both Economics and Philosophy. This was rooted in the teachings of Gurgieff, Ouspensky, Leon Maclaren and the non-dualism of Shankara. My very happy family life has been anchored in this tradition.

I now study and share my understanding of economics by teaching. This is to be taken as the philosophy of how to live well together. The SMN seems to be to be a place where people can share questions about humanity’s relationship with the cosmos and I enjoy the intelligent questioning which happens in its meetings and talks.
