The purpose of Tai Chi Chuan, when practised according to The Commentary by Zhang Chan-Feng, was enlightenment. Ancient Chinese culture, more than two thousand years ago, was formed around Taoism, Confucianism and the I Ching and when Buddhism arrived from India in the early First Century AD, it was included.
These philosophies and their practice introduced the discovery and realization, of multiple dimensions and Consciousness in the so-called Beyond. Taoism and Buddhism shared a similar understanding and they found that our Universe was a product of this Beyond and all things relied on information from Consciousness to appear and function.
Tai Chi Chuan was created in the Sung Dynasty (960 to 1285), in order to maintain good health bring about understanding of who Sentient Beings really are. Chinese martial art technique and discipline was used for the practice of Tai Chi Chuan, because it had to be undertaken with commitment to obtain the desired result. The practitioner had to be transformed in able to become In One with the information from Consciousness and the changes in the environment.
The purpose of Tai Chi is to be able to come and go freely between Self-nature, in the Beyond, and this Universe.
