Oonagh Harpur – Love and Integrity in Business

Love & Integrity in Business may sound like an Oxymoron but Oonagh has been working for over 20 years with CEOs and business leaders for whom how they make a profit is as important as how much profit they make.

In today’s volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world the best boards are developing their leadership potential so they not only deliver the performance expected by shareholders but also inspire and encourage everyone in the business to put shared purpose and values into action. In this way the business delivers its promises to employees, customers, suppliers and the wider community.

Oonagh will outline how the best boards do this, drawing on research for the Lord Mayor of London’s initiative to restore trust and integrity in financial services. Along the way, she shares learnings from conversations with over 60 corporate directors across Europe, including 25 chairmen.

Oonagh is currently facilitating two parallel shared learning groups for Blueprint for Better Business with whom leading corporates are putting purpose into business. She will share on an anonymous basis what the groups have learned.

Oonagh Harpur  is Non-Executive Director, Government Legal Department Department and Wisdom of Crowds Ltd; Member, Walgreens Boots Alliance Advisory Panel on sustainability and a Senior Advisor to a number of financial and professional services company Boards, and to Tomorrow’s Company and Blueprint for Better Business.  Oonagh first became a CEO in 1989 and has served on boards for over 25 years in executive, advisory and non-executive roles as a CEO, a non-executive Director and a Trustee in the private, public and not for profit sectors. She has worked in the UK and USA in local and global organisations in the energy, health, and financial and professional services sectors. As a member of the City Values Forum, the Lord Mayors’ initiative to restore trust and integrity in the City, she led and co-authored with Tomorrow’s Company: “Governing Values: a Guide for Boards of Financial Services Companies” in October 2013; and co-authored “Tomorrow’s Chairman” serialised in the FT in 2014. As a business strategist Oonagh’s interest in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability began in the early 80s when she drafted the National Coal Board’s evidence to the Flowers Commission on “the social, environmental and economic impacts of coal mining and coal use” – one of the first corporate responsibility reports ever written. She has continued to see CR as strategy for people, planet and profit and has been active in developing CR practice as a CEO and in the boardroom.

Oonagh was nominated as a Cranfield FTSE “100 Women to Watch” in 2012 and 2013. She is also a Trustee of the Scientific and Medical Network. See Oonagh’s TEDx talk

Prof Graham Ward – Living with Invisibility

In this lecture Graham will explore the multiple ways in which we live simultaneously with the visible, or what we can perceive through our senses, and the invisible. The invisible pertains to any number of ordinary realms – the sensory, the operations of the mind, the phenomenal world, and the cosmological.

Phoebe Wyss – Inside the Cosmic Mind

This talk will explore aspects of the emerging 21st century paradigm of a dynamic self-creating universe. Viewing the cosmos as a living organism with inter-related parts gives new meaning to the Hermetic axiom ‘as above so below’. Phoebe proposes that the cosmology of the physicists be extended to include the inner level of reality – the cosmic mind and psyche – arguing that the systems science model of nested hierarchies , when applied to mind, suggests that purpose and meaning in the cosmos could flow top-down from the mind of the whole, which puts subjects like astrology on a new footing.

Prof Ravi Ravindra – Eternal Wisdom

By bringing together philosophical and spiritual traditions of the East and the West we will explore some of the concerns of eternal wisdom: the nature of Ultimate Reality, of the spiritual and material structure of the cosmos, the purpose of human incarnation and the general suggestions for spiritual development.

Dr Vasileios Basios – What Emerges from Complexity Sciences?

During the last decades of the past century, the third scientific revolution was modestly and serenely announced: Complexity. Following Relativity and Quantum Physics, that brought forth a renewed understanding about the macrocosm and the microcosm respectively, Complexity is now pushing the frontier of our understanding as to how and why everything fits together in-between. – See more at: https://www.scimednet.org/content/what-emerges-complexity-sciences-0#sthash.M8Rqm9VF.dpuf
